All our meals are canned and can be consumed up to 12 months minutes after delivery. If the can is leaking, however, or if the ends are bulged, the food should not be used.

Yes. If it is necessary to heat canned food in the container, the top must be removed to prevent pressure build-up. The opened container may be covered loosely with a piece of aluminium foil. Then place the can in a saucepan of hot water and simmer on the stovetop. Food cans should never be placed in a microwave for heating. To heat canned food in the microwave, open the can and place the contents in a microwave-safe container.

Yes. Unused portions of canned food can be refrigerated after use, but should be removed from the can and placed in storage containers first, to preserve its flavor.

 

According to the International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation, “food processing is any deliberate change in a food that occurs before it’s available for us to eat.” So yes, canned food is considered processed food, as are frozen vegetables, roasted nuts, tomato sauce, fruit jam and bagged salad greens, just to name a few other examples. Canning helps preserve and enhance nutrients and freshness of foods at their peak. This provides us access to nutritious, convenient, safe and affordable foods year-round

Yes. The high-heat canning process is one of the safest when it comes to preserving food because it prevents the growth of microorganisms that cause foodborne illnesses.

No. When foods go through the canning process, nutrients are locked in so the amount of vitamins and nutrients in the food is the same on the day it was canned as it is a year from the canning date. Fresh produce loses nutritional value day by day, and even frozen fruits and vegetables experience nutrient loss through oxidation.
